Salford Quays property market receives high praise
08/06/2007
Salford Quays is now one of the most exciting places in the UK to live following its transformation from symbol of urban decay to guiding light of trend-setting modernity, according to a report in the Telegraph.
Lawrence Whittaker, from north-west property developer Dylan Harvey, told the broadsheet that the quays are now vibrating with new residential and commercial property investments, which is "more than enough to send prices soaring".
He said that the BBC's decision to relocate several of its departments to the city "is one of the last pieces of the puzzle, making the quayside into the buzzing metropolis that was hoped for".
Mr Whittaker, who is behind the creation of 650 glass-clad apartments at the new Clippers Quay development, went on to say that properties located near a waterside "reputedly experience the strongest capital growth", making the quays an exiting place for developers and investors.
"There are great transport links into Manchester, so it's ideal for those wanting to work in the city centre but live a little way out by the water," he added.
In a separate report, top designer Jade Jagger told the newspaper that she is thrilled to be working in Salford.
The daughter of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger revealed how as a member of design company Yoo, which is currently designing the interiors of a £200 million apartment development at the quays, she welcomes the chance to work in "amazing places", such as New York, Costa Rica and Manchester.
