Salford Quays luxury flats go on sale

Luxury apartments in four 26-storey blocks at Salford Quays are now on sale following a launch last week.

The £200 million development, the fruit of a joint project between KW Linfoot and Yoo, contains over 1,000 one, two and three-bed apartments.

Also on sale are smartpads, similar to studio apartments where everything is one room, which have a starting price of £90,000.

John Hitchcock, chairman of Yoo, told the Salford Advertiser that the firm has "always taken a pioneering approach to development and I get especially excited when regeneration works".

He added: "I see Salford Quays as being a more affordable offering for young professionals and families who want the same amenities of city centre living but cannot afford the higher prices."

Mr Hitchcock also said that redevelopment at the quays reminds him of London's South Bank "eight or nine years ago".

The first homes at Salford Quays were built in 1989 and residential and commercial development has been ongoing ever since.

Many experts believe that relocation of several BBC departments to the docks will boost the local rental market and drive up Manchester property prices in the surrounding areas.
