North-west house prices up 2.4% in a month

House prices in the north-west grew by 2.4 per cent in March, the second largest growth in England and Wales, according to new figures.
The latest statistical release from the Land Registry shows that annual house price inflation for the region has reached 8.8 per cent.
This is 0.5 percentage points above the England and Wales average of 8.3 per cent and brings the average house price in the north-west to £135,874.
In Greater Manchester, house prices grew by 0.3 per cent in March and by 7.3 per cent over the past 12 months. It brings the average price of a home in the city-region to £124,204.
According to Halifax, annual house price inflation in the north-west has reached 7.9 per cent – the third largest increase in England, excluding London.
