'Next-generation townhouses' for Ordsall
04/12/2007
As west Manchester prepares for an influx of BBC workers who are relocating from London along with several departments, a housebuilder has announced a new generation of townhouses.
LPC Living said the new homes in Ordsall will be roomy enough to house families but are as cheap and convenient as apartments, reports the Salford Advertiser.
There are no gardens to maintain, although there is rear play area for children, and because the front and back entrances are raised, there is room to park the car underneath. Prices start from £149,950.
Jonathan Drake, sales director for LPC Living, said: "To successfully regenerate an area, you have to have a mixture of people living in it. This means families and retired cou0ples looking to downsize as well as young people.
"However this is not going to happen unless developers build a variety of homes that meet the needs of all these different groups."
According to property firm Prospect, estate agents are preparing for a flood of inquiries from TV personalities looking for a Manchester property when the BBC moves to Salford Quays.
