New tram line 'good for Manchester investors'
17/03/2008
The development of a new light rail line in east Manchester is good news for residents and property investors, it has been claimed.
City Loft Developments believes that the new Metrolink extension to Droylsden will give a boost to the desirability of properties that are close to the line.
Ancoats is one such community that will benefit from the extension, with residents and investors alike expected to take a real interest in the area, according to City lofts.
Simon Hepden, a spokesman for City Loft Developments, said: "Ancoats is currently undergoing a huge regeneration programme and offers investors a good opportunity to get in early.
"Prices remain less than the nearby city centre."
Milliners Wharf in Ancoats is situated on the banks of the Ashton Canal and when completed will comprise 261 studio, as well as one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
Prices start from £137,000 for a studio flat, rising to £251,500 for a three-bedroom apartment.
Ancoats has been completely redeveloped after a decline in manufacturing led to a 13 per cent reduction in population in the 1990s.
