Manchester properties 'experiencing rent decreases'
15/06/2009
Tenants in north-west locations like Manchester are experiencing cheaper rents, it has been revealed.
Figures produced by findaproperty.com and cited in the Guardian suggest that rents in the region are down by an average of 15.7 per cent compared with the same period last year.
The typical monthly rent paid by tenants was identified as £580.
Commenting on the increasing trend of affordability, 25-year-old renter Christopher Brown-Colbert said: "There's so much choice. When I first rented in Manchester five years ago I was shown just two flats and had to snap up one of them.
"Now there are scores to see, each with incentives."
He added that there is now more choice than ever and it is possible to trade up to a bigger home.
Along with his flatmate, he occupies a two-bedroom property which is located in the Castlefield area of the city.
Once derelict, Castlefield has been transformed into a upmarket district comprising offices, flats, bars and other attractions.
