Manchester is 'expanding'
24/07/2007
Manchester and opportunities to buy property in the city are both on the up, a writer has claimed.
According to Jayne Dowle of the Times, the region is expanding upwards and outwards as different parts are transformed into residential suburbs.
Indeed, towns surrounding Manchester may now have the chance to benefit from the city's increasing success, as commuting into the centre of the city may become an attractive proposition for people looking to buy a house in the area.
"Planning and regeneration policy has encouraged city centre renewal," University of Sheffield senior lecturer Dr Aidan While told the newspaper.
"The challenge for smaller towns will be to achieve the positive overlaps."
This news may be encouraging for those in the north-west, after Gordon Brown recently announced a rethink of the proposed supercasino in east Manchester, where a number of residential developments and apartment complexes have been built in recent years.
