City centre apartments 'very popular'
13/09/2007
A "huge" number of people want to live in a city centre apartment while they experience the bright lights of Manchester, one expert has said.
According to Frances Jones, a spokesperson for City Residential, young adults are particularly eager to live in the city in order to enjoy the attractions that Manchester has to offer.
But when it comes to starting a family, many will leave their apartment and buy a home in one of the suburbs like Didsbury or Worsley, she said.
"We have a huge amount of people that are constantly ringing us up for something in the city centre. Our lettings department is extremely busy from that point of view.
"For most people, a city centre apartment isn't to buy as a family home. Potentially they will be buying it to live in for a short time while they experience the city centre lifestyle."
According to ManchesterUK, more than half of central Manchester properties are single-occupancy residences.
