Buy-to-let market still strong in Manchester, says Savills
04/02/2008
The rental market in Manchester remains healthy despite global concerns about credit and the national anxiety of falling house prices, it has been claimed.
According to leading real estate agents Savills, there is a high level of interest from buy-to-let landlords, many of whom are no doubt keen to profit from the city's strong student population.
Savills spokesman Tom Rogers said that while it is natural for investors to become more cautious, property deals in Manchester are still numerous.
"The rentals are always very good in the Manchester city centre; from a buy-to-let basis people are achieving rents that are paying the mortgage so it's not too bad."
According to the latest figures from the Land Registry, house prices in Greater Manchester grew by 6.8 per cent in the 12 months to November.
