Best of both worlds in Wigan

Manchester property hunters who want the peace and quiet of a west Manchester suburb but do not want to be too far from "buzz" of the city centre may be in luck.
A new development known as Spinners Mews has been built in Chadderton, near Oldham, and will eventually comprise 120 one and two-bedroom apartments and two, three and four-bedroom homes. Prices start at £94,950.
Housebuilder Redrow believes that Spinners Mews will appeal to those who want access to both central Manchester and the surrounding countryside.
Steve Daintith, head of land for Redrow, said: "The local authority wanted to see a step change in urban design quality in the area.
"So in consultation with the council's planners we designed bespoke [...] properties at Spinners Mews."
In nearby Horwich, Redrow is selling apartments at a development named Duo, which is made up of two upmarket residential towers.
