Landmark Manchester properties to be refurbished

A number of landmark Manchester properties are to be refurbished, an organisation has revealed.
According to plans announced by the City South Manchester Housing Trust, a total of £7 million will be spent on the project, Building Design reports.
Four towers in the city's Hulme area are to benefit from the alterations, which will be conducted by architectural firms 2E and FKDA.
The plan is to turn the 1960s blocks into warmer and more watertight buildings and a range of materials, including clay tiles and brushed aluminium, will be used.
In addition, there are proposals involving the creation of new shared entrances at the blocks and glazed screens for balconies.
The scheme is the first phase of a programme designed to improve all 11 of the blocks owned by the City South Manchester Housing Trust on the outskirts of the city.
A charitable organisation, the trust is headquartered in the Hulme area.
